Harley Davidson Diesel Conversion – 100 mph and over 80 Miles per Gallon!

Getting a Harley Davidson to run on diesel fuel has been a goal of many projects over the years. Most developers add a diesel engine and call it quits; however a group of retired engineers came up with a diesel conversion for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

They started with a 1988 FXRS and a standard V-twin engine and , viola, a diesel conversion of a Harley Davidson was born. The goal of the group of developers was to improve engine technology for the American military, but it could become the nation’s first turbocharged, diesel-powered motorcycle available to everyday riders. The bike has the potential to top 100mph and get over 80 mpg. With todays fuel prices, those are hard to resist numbers.

As of February 2008, the project was being looked over by the military and Harley Davidson for possible mass production. Since several of the engineers who developed the bike retired from Harley, maybe they will pick it up. A diesel conversion Harley Davidson is about as much as anyone could hope for.
